This trail will lead you through a beautiful section of forest, cross a river several times, and end at a beautiful waterfall. It begins at the Riviere Noire entrance to Black River Gorges National Park. Be aware that the hours for the park are 6am-6pm at this gate. The trail is well shaded, easy to follow, and the terrain is not very strenuous. There are several river crossings where there it is possible that you will get your feet wet depending upon the level of the river.

From the Riviere Noire parking lot you will take the main trail headed towards the Riviere Noire kiosk/Machabee Viewpoint. After about 10-15 minutes you will reach a fork in the trail. Turn left towards Mare Aux Joncs/Pilgrim Trail. It will fork again a little bit further – stay left again. As you are ascending, keep an eye on the trail as it seems more difficult to follow on the way back. The trail will reach a creek and you will follow it on either bank until the trail resumes. For the duration of the hike the trail will not vary far from this creek – it will cross back and forth though. Be careful on the rocks. Return on the same route.
